SoulStrutter selections for Aug 2022 Wk 31 of the best non-original
songs i.e. cover versions, remixes, reissues, previously unreleased and
new songs using samples or new releases with a retro feel. (In no particular order).
NOTE: I've been experiencing internet connection issues today with
intermittent drop outs, so the main and Neo Soul Dirty Dozen may be
deferred until tomorrow.
I could only muster together ten this week, so I've added two of the
best tracks from last week's "Masterpieces of Modern Soul Vol. 6" compilation that there was no room for last week (i.e. Second Res$urrection, The 3 Pieces).
Added to those are two reissued sides by Don Bryant from a forthcoming
vinyl release from brand new label Creative Soul Records, a vinyl
release for Mamas Guns digital double-sider, a Numero Group reissue
(which is also a cover) by Lil Murray & The Soul Exciters. Two
covers from Rayleigh Mosley doing Willie Hutch and Joyce Simms on yet
another Bobby Caldwell cover. KAYTANDA & Anderson .Paak use a Sister
Sledge sample on their latest single and NONDO uses a James Brown
sample. Finally there is a remix of Marvin's Mercy Mercy Me.
