for: Oct 2022 Wk 41 in no particular order.

This week's selections of the best new neo soul releases around. The highlights are an excellent album from Mikhala Jené with one track here and two in the main dozen. A sophomore album by Charlotte Dos Santos and a good four track EP by Aisyla Arriet. The best release so far from Kirby and a brilliant debut single from London's Mariella.

The Neo Dirty Dozen - The Best Of 2022... Part 29 Oct 2022 Wk 39 Spotify Playlist

The SoulStrutter selection of the best Neo Soul releases
for: Oct 2022 Wk 39 in no particular order.

There were a lot more neo soul tunes around than traditional last week so this week it's a double-dozen. The highlight is a debut six track EP by Dutch artist JELISA who featured here in June with "Perspective" along with videos for her other two singles. A few other picks from the pack include Tash, Soulutions feat. Gemma Ashley, Bella Luna, Upper Reality and Tara Lily. 

Upper Reality (aka Jessica Bathea) released a five track EP "Chaotic Neutral" yesterday with only three new tracks but none of them are better than "I'm Cool", although "Stay " is quite pleasant and uses lines from Diana Ross' Reach Out And Touch"

This week's highlights are a few tracks from a good little debut EP ("Inevitable") from Peruvian singer Layla released on Tuesday. A new five track EP from Zenesoul, but three tracks have already been released, so there is one new track here an one in the main dozen. The first new single since 2018 from Lisa McClendon and singles from Arletis and Kalenbree, all posted here on day of release.

The Neo Dirty Dozen - The Best Of 2022... Part 26 Sep 2022 Wk 36 Spotify Playlist

The SoulStrutter selection of the best Neo Soul releases
for: Sep 2022 Wk 36 in no particular order.

The playlist is extended to 20 tracks this week, not that it was a particularly 'great' week but mainly because there are a few tracks from a couple of albums from Ari Lennox and Eva Lazarus so I rounded it up to 20.

A track that is really growing on me is "My Love" from Greentea Peng's sophomore album "GREENZONE 108". One I have loved since it appeared on her recent EP ("About The Time..." in May) is from Luton's Tsharna and "Curfew". This has been released for the third time of asking as it was a single last year and has just been released along with another song as a double single on Friday, so she believes in it, and rightly so.

The more I listen to the new Ari Lennox album the better it gets with, apart from the two singles on it,  at least six new good tracks. I 'suspect' it will be a future chart topper. I've gone with two of the more soulful songs "Leak It" and "Bye Boy" along with "POF".

I don't think that this week's selections are quite as strong as last week's but the one doing it for me is Ria Barkr and I'm also digging the double Dutchmen Maydien & Mitchell Yard which has been out for three weeks and Birmingham's YodaGee & Casssaronie. There's a good remix of TruSoul Davis' "In Love" by London's DJ Mystique. I think Gabrielle B. could be a grower as could Isla Kroll.

Making up for last week's drought of good neo tunes this week there are plenty, so the playlist is extended to twenty this week.

There's a good debut album by Karis Lovechild "another love story..." with three of the best tracks from it featured. A couple of tracks from another album "FREEFORM" by Carlie Free.

It was a bit of a push pulling together a dozen 'good un's' this week so a few liberties have been take i.e. Keyshanna K is technically a reissue as it was released as a single in 2019 and Little Dragon was released as a double single (10 Aug) but this track featured on their 2020 album "New Me, New Us" and  Sidibe is also a 'remix' (stripped back version).

The SS top 3 this week would be Nailah (which was going to be in main dozen but put here as it was short of tracks) Thuy and Swantjé.
