The Dirty Dozen - The Best Of 2022... Part 32 (Aug 2022 Wk 32) Spotify Playlist

SoulStrutter selections of the best releases this week

In no particular order other than tempo.

Another scant week for depth of good quality releases, in fact there were far fewer releases in general this week.

A few extras have been included as a couple of albums deserved more than one track included i.e. Sharon Rae North "Silhouette" (one track is also featured in The Covers Dirty Dozen) and Candace Woodson "Perfect".

So to the thorny issue of choosing this week's SoulStrutter Selection of the Week. I was tempted to go for Candace Woodson's album as there are several worthy tracks and a lot of variety on the album. However, as one of the criterion for choosing the selection is to try to highlight material that may otherwise get overlooked, and Candace Woodson's album has been heavily promoted and is receiving plenty of airplay already, I decided to go with something else.

Those considered include: Ronald Isley & The Isley Brothers Feat. Beyonce "Make Me Say It Again, Girl", Boney James Feat. Lalah Hathaway "Coastin'", Michael Dunston "So Sensitive", Mike De'cole "When We Fell" and Sharon Rae North "You Make Me Wanna".

Usually during the week when tracks are found the SSSotW chooses itself but, whilst all the selections above are good, none really stands out in particular above the rest. One that I do keep returning to though is a release that hasn't received much, if any love, the new single from Birmingham's Indigo Marshall "Summer Nights" (which is in The Neo Soul Dirty Dozen). So for a change, as neo soul doesn't often get much of a look in for SSSotW, I'm selecting that one.
