Patrice Isley [2023] - Harvest For The World [Expansion Records]

Out today (a sample was posted 2 weeks ago) via Expansion Records is a reimagining of The Isley Bothers 1976 classic "Harvest For The World" by Patrice Isley.

We are not 100% certain whether she is a daughter of one of the Isley's as there is nothing to indicate it in her bio, but we wouldn't be surprised.

Ms Isley has a five octave vocal range and has worked predominantly as a backing singer for big names such as Barry White, Gladys Knight, Teddy Pendergrass, Ashford & Simpson, Andre Crouch, Phillip Bailey Chante Moore and Glen Jones to name but a few. This may explain why her solo recording output is limited.

She featured on Expansion's Luxury Soul 2019 compilation with "Just Believe In Love", the title track of her 2016 album which, as far as we can ascertain, is her only album to date.

One of the first, if not the first, to cover the song was Power Station in 1985 which was more of a rock version. The Christians followed it in 1988 and had their biggest hit with it peaking at #8 on the UK pop chart in Oct 1988. There have been around another twenty to thirty covers of the song including the more respectable ones by Jewell (1994), Ronnie Laws (an instrumental version in 1998), Paul Carrack did a credible version in 2001, Vanessa Williams (2005), Kingdom Choir (2018) and most recently the Average White Band did it in 2021 with Chris Jasper on "Cover To Cover / Soul To Soul".
