A cover version Idris Muhammad's "Could Heaven Ever Be Like This" from Incognito featuring Bluey is released today and is also included on the Dome 25 track
compilation "Dome 30 Years, Vol. 1" also released today.
It's been available (and posted) from Traxsource for a week or two (15 Apr) with three mixes:
full length, edit and Ski Okenfull mix.
This release is 'scary' for me as I distinctly remember bopping around to this as a teenager when the original from drummer Idris Muhammad's "Turn This Mutha Out" album was released 45 years ago in 1977. It seems I'm not alone as Jean-Paul 'Bluey' Maunick did the same whilst working in a record shop back in those days.
I'm pretty sure this got hammered on Northern Soul dancefloors (probably broken initially at the Blackpool Mecca) but in any case it crossed over and just missed out on a UK Top 40 position peaking at #42 on 1 Oct 1977 on it's third week on the chart. It didn't do any better stateside peaking at #76 and only did marginally better on the R&B chart hitting #68. So once again the UK knew it's onions!
