The Global Soul Chart - 31st Jul 2021

Only four new entries this week, all of which have already been posted. D.Folks enters straight in at #2 and Leela James at #4, so I guess they will be battling it out for the top position next week, with the advantage being in favour of Leela James as her new album "See Me" was released on Friday.

Tygressa Jones stays at the top for the second week with another five climbing into the top 10. It's a shame, and a mystery, that a few of my more soulful tips have failed to make the chart and it looks like their chance has maybe now passed i.e. Alanna Royale "Fall In Love Again", Lady Wray "Games People Play", Eugene Cole "Why Are You Holding Back?" and Eric Roberson "Lessons". The Eugene Cole one is even more mystifying as it is one of the few class tunes on Starpoint's 'non-soul' chart! aka 'The Ball Bag chart' ... for those who saw Simon Soulgigs's facebook post this week!

Last week's tips are still in waiting but may have a slightly better chance i.e. Rob Hardt etc. with "If These Walls Could Speak",  Penzillathegreat (Francci Richards) "Stay A Little While", Navy "LMK" and Samm Henshaw "Grow".

A probable certainty next week will be Durand Jones & The Indications with their new album "Private Space". Other than that, nothing much has 'rocked my boat' this week apart from, of course, the GarciaWalker&Durrell album "Praying For Rain" but I have a feeling that it won't get across the board airplay, but perhaps now that it's been released digitally it might, although Mike De'Cole (this week's interviewee) did very well on vinyl 7" only!
