The Global Soul Chart - 31st July 2021 - The Essential 5 & The Breakers

This week's 'Essential 5' and 'The Breakers' played by Franklin Sinclair on the Global Soul Chart Show which is aired between 5pm-7pm every Saturday on Global Soul Radio.

He plays the Essential 5 at the start of the show, whilst The Breakers are interspersed between chart entries.

The Essential 5

As predicted last week, Leela James entered the chart bolstered by the release of the new album "See Me". None of the other four 'Essential 5' charted, but still hoping for this weeks' SoulStrutter Selection of The Week  Penzilllathegreat to make an appearance along with Rob Hardt & Ferry Ultra Feat. Sharon Phillips.

All of this week's Essential 5 have already been posted and three featured in last Sunday's The Dirty Dozen (Samm Henshaw, Justy and Eva Saturn (with "Holding U Down")) with Navy appearing the previous week.

The Breakers

None of last week's eight breakers made the chart this week.

Another eight breakers were squeezed in again this week, five previously posted, one posted since the show (Lady Frequency) and the other two (Lester Getz & Monfort and Gentrae Rogerz) won't be posted! 

I imagine that Durand Jones & The Indications is a dead cert for entry next week as it is full of great tracks, so the album will be on heavy rotation all around. I like the Lady Frequency find. If Tom Bailey only got a one week look in with "Love And Happiness" I don't hold out much hope of the latest single entering, but who knows?.

I've added the ratings that were applied to each track/album when posted, and as you can see they were all posted within days of release.
