Continuing the Billy Stewart theme, I received an email from our good
friend Bill Buckley of
SoulAndJazzAndFunk
in response to the Remembering Billy Stewart post yesterday.
He attached this version of "Sitting In The Park" by Georgie Fame, which I'd seen listed but, incorrectly, assumed it was simply a rerun of his 1966 cover. However, it is a later re-recording from his 1979 album
"That's What Friends Are For" which is a completely different arrangement of the song and is a very
nice version and thought it was well worth sharing. So you have Bill to
thank if you were not previously aware of this version. It still sounds
very fresh to these ears, proving that good quality music never goes out of fashion.
In contrast, also posted below, is his faithful original cover version from 1966.
