Kim Tibbs [2022] - THE SCiENCE OF COMPLETiON VOLUME 1 [Izipho Soul]

The long awaited, highly anticipated and much lauded new album from Kim Tibbs "THE SCiENCE OF COMPLETiON VOLUME 1" is finally available digitally, on vinyl and CD from this Friday (16 Sep 2022).

The vinyl is available in limited edition red (200) or black double vinyl. I understand that the CD and Vinyl versions are the full length, unedited, versions. The digital version is also being released on Friday but will be the radio edits. Therefore if you want the full, unexpurgated, versions then CD or vinyl is the way to go.

The album is being released in association with Black Orchid Records, Soulfood Music, DSG Radio Promotions, Izipho Soul Records and AWAL/Sony. It was recorded at the legendary Royal Studios in Memphis, TN, and co-produced by Lawrence Boo Mitchell, son of the late great Willie Mitchell.

The project involved twenty five musicians all playing their part to create the most authentic 70s soul you will ever hear in 21st century music. The attention to detail went as far as retrieving Al Green’s microphone from the original Hi sessions to enhance that vintage sound!

Kim has written all eleven songs and are a soundtrack to her life covering a range of themes such as love, hope and faith. It is recommended that you listen to the album from start to finish to fully appreciate each song’s depth, power and beauty.

The album opens with the the lead 7” single "WHERE WOULD I BE WITHOUT YOU?" released in the Spring of 2022 which sold out on pre-order and created a buzz of what is to follow. It peaked at #3 on UK Soul Chart spending 13 weeks on the chart.

Another two tracks were released on 20th Aug as album teasers/tasters billed as "THE VOLUME BEGiNS" which consisted of  "WALK TO THE LIGHT!" and "SUMMERTIME" and topped the UK Soul Chart last week (5 Sep).

The album is being hailed as an 'all killer no filler affair', and that can't be argued with. From this listener's perspective, putting aside the three tracks already released as singles, the highlights are "LOVING YOU MAKES LIFE SO EASY!" (a classic in the making?), "YOUR LOVE" and "I'M HOLDING ON…!" harking back to those 70s female southern soul ballads coming out of Memphis' studios along with "STARGAZING". Oh go on then, I'll also throw "MIRACLES" in the mix.

The album is available to pre-order now from Izipho Soul and most of the respected vinyl dealers.

This is a very interesting album which takes up the fundamentals of the 70s in Memphis. To listen with some interest because it is well done.
