A belated birthday tribute to J.Hud who's 41st birthday was
yesterday. One of her best recordings, in my humble opinion, is a song written
by Cee-Lo Green, Jack Splash and Salaam Remi, "All Dressed in Love", for "Sex and the City: The Movie" (2008). It was also included as a bonus (hidden) track on her
2008 debut self-titled album. Despite not being released as a single
(although there is a promo CDr for it), the song debuted at number 72 on the
UK Singles Chart on the strength of paid downloads alone.
J.Hud rose to fame playing the lead role of Effie White in 'Dreamgirls' in
2006 (for which she received a Grammy for Best Supporting Actress) after
having appeared in the third season of American Idol in 2004.
More recently she has been on our TV screens as a judge in The Voice both
in UK and US and of course starred in last year's Aretha biopic
"Respect".
Surprisingly, to date, she has only released three albums plus the
Respect soundtrack.
