A couple of videos hot off the press of
Kim Tibbs performing two of the many standout tracks from
her chart topping album "The Science of Completion Vol. 1".
The first is the lead single "Where Would I Be Without You" released to promote the album prior to its release and the second is "Miracles".
A week later than expected, the much talked about new album by
Kim Tibbs "The Science of Completion, Vol. 1" is released digitally today. It was released on CD and vinyl last
Friday (16 Sep) and my understanding was that the digital release was
going to be radio edits but it would appear that they are the full
versions.
I'm not going to repeat was was written last week and refer you to
last week's post
for the album, but now you can listen to all tracks in full as only
samples were posted last week.

The long awaited, highly anticipated and much lauded new album from
Kim Tibbs "THE SCiENCE OF COMPLETiON VOLUME 1" is finally available digitally, on vinyl and CD from this Friday (16 Sep
2022).
The vinyl is available in limited edition red (200) or black double
vinyl. I understand that the CD and Vinyl versions are the full length,
unedited, versions. The digital version is also being released on Friday but will be the radio edits. Therefore if you want the full, unexpurgated, versions then
CD or vinyl is the way to go.
The album is being released in association with Black Orchid Records,
Soulfood Music, DSG Radio Promotions, Izipho Soul Records and AWAL/Sony.
It was recorded at the legendary Royal Studios in Memphis, TN, and
co-produced by Lawrence Boo Mitchell, son of the late great Willie
Mitchell.
The project involved twenty five musicians all playing their part to
create the most authentic 70s soul you will ever hear in 21st century
music. The attention to detail went as far as retrieving Al Green’s
microphone from the original Hi sessions to enhance that vintage sound!
Kim has written all eleven songs and are a soundtrack to her life
covering a range of themes such as love, hope and faith. It is
recommended that you listen to the album from start to finish to fully
appreciate each song’s depth, power and beauty.
The album opens with the the lead 7” single "WHERE WOULD I BE WITHOUT YOU?" released in the Spring of 2022 which sold out on pre-order and
created a buzz of what is to follow. It peaked at #3 on UK Soul Chart
spending 13 weeks on the chart.
Another two tracks were released on 20th Aug as album teasers/tasters
billed as "THE VOLUME BEGiNS" which consisted of "WALK TO THE LIGHT!" and "SUMMERTIME" and topped the UK Soul Chart last week (5 Sep).
The album is being hailed as an 'all killer no filler affair', and
that can't be argued with. From this listener's perspective, putting aside the three tracks
already released as singles, the highlights are "LOVING YOU MAKES LIFE SO EASY!" (a classic in the making?), "YOUR LOVE" and "I'M HOLDING ON…!" harking back to those 70s female southern soul ballads coming
out of Memphis' studios along with "STARGAZING". Oh go on then, I'll also throw "MIRACLES" in the mix.
The album is available to pre-order now from
Izipho Soul
and most of the respected vinyl dealers.

The highly anticipated album "THE SCiENCE OF COMPLETiON VOLUME I" from Kim Tibbs is due for release in mid September, but in the meantime we are
in for a taster with a double-side single release which has been titled "THE VOLUME BEGiNS..." and is available now on Bandcamp.
The album is being released in association with Black Orchid Records,
Soulfood Music, DSG Radio Promotions, Izipho Soul Records and
AWAL/Sony. It was recorded at the legendary Royal Studios in Memphis,
TN, and co-produced by Lawrence Boo Mitchell, son of the late great
Willie Mitchell.
The project involved twenty five musicians all playing their part to
create the most authentic 70s soul you will ever hear in 21st century
music. The attention to detail went as far as retrieving Al Green’s
microphone from the original Hi sessions to enhance that vintage
sound!
I am told that the album will be available on 2 x 12" vinyl and CD with
the full length versions. A digital version 'may' be released later
which will be edits of the full versions. So if you want the full
unexpurgated versions then you will need to purchase them on vinyl or
CD.
The single, which follows the very successful "Where Would I Be Without You" which sold out on vinyl on day of release, was re-pressed and sold
out again, will be "Summertime" (an original song not the Porgy & Bess standard written by
George Gershwin) coupled with "Walk To The Light". The full length versions of these are 10:20 and 7:44
respectively.
"Summertime" is a dreamy ballad that evokes memories of summer’s gone by. The horn
and string arrangement on this opus perfectly add to the theme as Kim
gently unfolds her story; the scatting in the second half interspersed
with the backing vocals are truly sensational!
"Walk To The Light" is a song about achieving personal
empowerment. The string, bass and wah wah guitar intro let’s you know
you are in for a musical treat. Kim’s voice builds and builds until
she breaks out into a powerful crescendo along with her own Hammond
organ playing - this is pure church!
Included below is a 30 minute interview Kim did with Solar Radio's
Gary Spence on his Solar Radio show yesterday (18 Aug 2022).
