In a very similar vein to
Thee Sacred Souls
posted earlier, this sounds like the sort of retro sweet soul tune that
gets issued by the likes of Colemine and similar retro vinyl labels.
It's actually a self-release from Charlie Bereal who is
an established Grammy award winning writer/producer/arranger who started
out with a nine-piece gospel group The Soul Seekers.
He has written songs recorded by Mary Mary, Deborah Cox, Tweet, Mya, R
Kelly, Kelly Rowland, Raphael Saadiq, Jamie Foxx, Leela
James and even Whitney Houston. He's also worked with Queen Latifah, Tank, Missy Elliot, Madonna and many others.
Since 2015 he's released around seven solo singles and two albums. The
latest single being a retro sweet soul tune "Oh Baby" released on 22 Aug 2022. This is right in the early 70s Chi-Lites /
Stylistics / Delfonics / Main Ingredient mould.
I've had some of his earlier material playing in background whilst writing this post and it is well worth checking out if, like me, you are unfamiliar with his material.
