As if you didn't need proof that you don't have to spend a fortune on great tunes, this cheapie from Wilson Pickett, "I Want You", from 1979 on
EMI America can be picked up in near mint condition for no more than
£20!
It came out on a 2004 compilation "Steppin' Across The U.S.A., Volume 8" in 2004 on CD and is available digitally but this track in particular was obviously ripped from vinyl, crackles and all, suggesting perhaps that the compilation may not be 100% legal, which is possibly why none of the artists are listed on the CD? It's well worth checking out as includes Keith Barrow "You Know You Want To Be Loved" and the very underrated group Star-Tells (aka The Chymes) "What More Can I Ask For" amongst the dozen tracks.
Hopefully a podcast of the show will be available later or tomorrow which
will be posted so if you missed the show you can catch up on some
absolutely stunning tunes. In fact even if you did listen you can hear
them all again.
