Blue-eyed soul. It was the instrumental version that was mainly played although the vocal did get played later.
This is the only known/listed 45 for artist and Newark NJ label. It was bootlegged on a faux white promo.
Apparently his real name is Billy Smith and he was only 14 when this was recorded although he claimed to be 17. Read the story on Soul Source.
He went on to be a producer in the 70s working with rock band Riot on his own Fire Sign label.
He also arranged some of The Drifters 70s hits such as 'Down On The Beach Tonight' and 'Like Sister And Brother' and others
