Bilal feat. Questlove, Robert Glasper & Burniss Travis [2024] - Something To Hold (Live) [ONErpm]

The upcoming album from Bilal is a live recording of a set he did in Dec '23 at The Glasshaus, NYC, in front of 100 invited guests but it was also live streamed. 

The set consisted of reimaginings of songs of his career performed alongside Robert Glasper, Questlove, Common and bassist Burniss Travis

The album, "Live At Glasshaus", is due for release on 14 Jun but in the meantime he's released “Something To Hold (Live)” as the lead single along with a live video recording of it.

Bilal began as a member of the Soulquarians collective. He recorded a demo tape which secured a recording contract with Interscope. His breakout single, "Soul Sista", (included on the new album) was his first release for the label and reached #18 on the Billboard R&B chart in 2000. He released his debut album "1st Born Second" in 2001. 

His sophomore album "Love For Sale" (recorded between 2001-2003) was a departure from his last and Interscope refused to release it and ultimately it resulted in the parting of ways. However, an unfinished mix of the album was leaked in 2006 and gained an underground following but has never been officially released. 

The new album (including "Love For Sale") will be his sixth and first since "In Another Life" in 2015. The lead single is from the unreleased "Love For Sale".

He has announced a North America Fall Tour today which consists of 16 dates in October. (dates and venues on image below). Tickets go on pre-sale on tomorrow (Wed) 10:00 (EST) and general sale on Friday 10:00 (EST).

Robert Glasper feat. SiR & Alex Isley [2023] - Back To Love [Loma Vista Recordings]

The new single from Robert Glasper, "Back To Love" feat. SiR & Alex Isley is a ballad featured in the second series of TV sitcom "Run The World" which commenced on 26 May.

Alex Isley is, of course, the daughter of Ernie Isley who is in high demand featuring on numerous artists recordings, as well as her own, in recent years. 

SiR is Sir Darryl Farris from Inglewood, CA, who debuted in 2015 and, coincidentally, covered The Isley's "Footsteps in the Dark Pts. 1 &2" in Nov 2020 to a good reception.

Dinner Party, Terrace Martin, Robert Glasper & Kamasi Washington [2023] - Enigmatic Society [Sounds of Crenshaw] (Full Album)

One we had shortlisted amongst the hoard on return from vacation but just realised that we never got around to posting it. Initially we found the single "For Granted" feat. Arin Ray released on 7 Apr, a week before the release of the album "Enigmatic Society".

It's the second album from Dinner Party (following their self-titled 2020 debut) in collaboration with Terrace Martin, Robert Glasper and Kamasi Washington  and a host of guest artists such as Phoelix, Arin Ray, Ant Clemons, 9th Wonder and Tank.

The album fuses jazz instrumentation with soulful R&B melodies over classic hip-hop production.

Robert Glasper [2022] - Black Radio III (Supreme Edition) [Loma Vista Recordings] (Full Album)

In Feb this year Robert Glasper released "Black Radio III" and, like PJ Morton has also done today, he's released an updated edition today subtitled Supreme Edition. 

It is essentially the original album's thirteen tracks with another nine new tracks.  Why it's not simply a new album titled Black Radio IV (or something else) I've no idea but I guess it's a way of remarketing/reselling previous material.

As with the first edition it features a host of guest artists from established artists such as PJ Morton, India.Arie, Bilal and Alex Isley to BJ Chicago Kid, Emily King, Estelle, Mac Miller and Luke James.

The clear standouts from the new songs is "My Queen" feat. Luke James and "Hi" feat. India.Arie along with an Isley Brothers cover "Voyage To Atlantis" ("Go For Your Guns" (1977)) featuring Ernie Isley's daughter Alex and Bilal.
