Raahz [2023] - Voyage [Araysun] (Full EP)

In June we came across a debut single, "Joyride", from Raahz (Rosalyn Jackson) from Charlotte, NC (which we chose as our SoulStrutter Selection of the Week). We suspected that it was based on a library backing, and have since come across it on a few more recordings. One only two weeks ago by Anne. "No Mistake." and prior to that King Creole "Kiss & Tell", we're sure there will be others.

On Friday Raahz released a seven track EP/album, "Voyage", which includes "Joyride". In addition, our choice cuts are "July Showers", "Honey" and "Chasing Love".

Raahz [2023] - Joyride [Araysun]

I think we may have just found the killer tune of the week. Some songs just hit you immediately and this one has for us. The best of all worlds, an obvious 60s/70s sweet soul sample with a contemporary sound layered on top. We love it.

"Joyrise" appears to be a debut release for Raahz on which writers credits are given to a Rosalyn Jackson (Raahz?).

With a bit of a deep dive we discovered that she is from Charlotte, NC, and has some involvement in a lifestyle product called Araysun (the label name).
