Ego Ella May released a five track EP "FIELDNOTES PT II" today (8 Mar 2022) which, funnily enough, follows "FIELDNOTES" release last October (21 Oct 2021). Two of the tracks have already been released as singles "Introvert Hotline" (22 Feb 2022) and "for both of us" (17 Nov 2021).

Ego Ella May [2022] - Introvert Hotline [Self Released]

Ego Ella May last featured here in Oct 2021 with her four track EP "FIELDNOTES" which I had down as a Tru Thoughts release. Her latest single "Introvert Hotline" (released today 22 Feb 2022) appears to be self released, so perhaps she has now parted ways with Tru Thoughts?

It's the usual jazzy neo soul sound we have learned to expect from the south Londoner who won a Mobo Award for Best Jazz Act in 2020. I noted from writer's credits that the name she uses is Ego Ella Uche.

Ego Ella May [2021] - FIELDNOTES [Tru Thoughts] (Full EP)

Ego Ella May last appeared on the blog in Jul with her last album "Honey For Wounds" (Deluxe Edition) of her 2020 album. Her first release since them is this four track EP "FIELDNOTES" released last Friday (15 Oct 2021).

She's is from South London and yet another artist signed to Brighton's Tru Thoughts label. In 2020 she won a Mobo Award for Best Jazz Act, so needless to say that this is neo soul on the jazzy side. She's very much in the Eryka Badu school of neo soul.
