Ego Ella May has just released a deluxe edition of her debut
album "Honey For Wounds" (originally released exactly a year ago) which
is the same album with additional mixes of three of the tracks. On 1 Jul
she posted a live set of the album on YT.
She's is from South London and yet another artist signed to Brighton's
Tru Thoughts label. In 2020 she won a Mobo Award for Best Jazz
Act.
On her facebook page she states that it's her debut album, yet she
released an album, also on Tru Thoughts, in 2019 called "So Far".
Perhaps she classifies that as an EP even though it has ten
tracks? .. don't get me going on what's a EP v LP v Mix Tape again!
The album is contemporary jazzy neo soul in a similar groove to early
Erykah Badu just right for Sunday listening.
