The third album from Atlanta's Jade Novah, "Where Have I Been?" is released today. It contains a wopping 24 tracks, 11 of them have
already been released as singles and/or on her 2022 "Moon In Phases" EP. (i.e. tracks 2,4,5,7,8,10,12,14,16,23,24)
From a cursory glance it appears that all material released since her last
album, "Stages" in Feb 2020, is included along with many new songs. However, nine of the new songs have durations of two minutes or less and are essentially interludes. So, boiling it all down, excluding previously released material and interludes, the new material consist of four songs:
01- "Table 10"
18 - "Don't Love You Anymore"
19 - Where Have I Been?
21 - Maybe It's Me
Twelve of the songs feature guest artists such as Kenyon Dixon, Tarriona
'Tank' Ball from Tank & The Bangas and Leslie Odom Jr. featuring on
four, Wayne Brady on three and Tabitha Brown on two with Gail Bean and Tony
Walker both featuring together on two songs.
Ms Novah was born Lindsay Fields in Cleveland, OH, moving to Atlanta when 21
and started writing songs for artists such as Myá and Christina
Milian. She commenced a solo career in 2012 and rose to prominence via
releasing cover songs on YouTube, her cover of Rhianna's "Diamonds" has now received 13m views. She has also performed background
vocals for Beyonce, Rhianna and Lady Gaga.
Jade's debut single, "Show Out", arrived in 2013 with an album
"In Search Of Me" also slotted for release which didn't see the light of day. Her
debut album "All Blue" eventually came in Nov 2013 followed by "Stages" in Feb 2020.
As well a singing, Jade is also an actress and voiced Ashlee Starling and Echo in the season 34 episode 18 ("Fan-ily Feud") of The Simpsons
She married producer Devin Johnson (a producer / arranger on American
Idol and graduate of Berklee College of Music) in Dec 2015 and uses
Johnson (rather than Fields) as her surname on writing credits.
