Courtney Courtney [2024] - All Court Up [Dice Productions] (Full EP)

Rising singer/songwriter Courtney Courtney from South East London released her first single, a broken beats track titled "Mum's Car", in  Jul '23.  She followed it with "Overthinking" in Sep '23.

She has now released her debut six track EP "All Court Up" which includes her only other single "Ready For Ya" (Jan '24), which is another broken beats type song. The pick of the pack for us is the opening song "Don't Need Diamonds".

Whilst her first single didn't materialise until just under a year ago, she has been performing live for around ten years.

We found an acoustic rendition of Angie Stone's "I Wish I Didn't Miss You" on her YouTube channel, filmed on the Thai island of Koh Phangan in Aug 2019 (video below).

She states in her bio that "I don’t ever want to be tied down to 1 genre, I just want to make good music that people can relate to".

Maya Blandy [2024] - Lemons [JMJ Recordings]

The fifth single to date from Australian born Maya Blandy is "Lemons". Maya was born to English/German parents and raised on the Portuguese island of Madeira, where she still lives.

Whilst studying Music at the University of Manchester, Maya collaborated with her father's life long friend, Jake Wherry the founding member of The Herbaliser, who she has been working with and has co-written and produced her music.

Her first three singles were disco oriented (the first two featuring Kathy Brown) and the fourth has a jazz throwback feel, so it will be interesting to see what's next.

The latest single, "Lemons", and the last, "B.I.B." (translates to 'Bitch In Black') were co-written with Wherry and trombonist Trevor Mires who has worked with many artists including Jamiroquai and Incognito and also plays trombone on the song.

The last two singles have been combined for 7" vinyl release which you can obtain via Bandcamp.

Maya performed "B.I.B." live on Madeira TV recently, video below.

Alma Park [2024] - Tonight [Self Released]

A nice little sample based ditty we came across is "Tonight" by Alma Park which appears to be a project by London producer Ross Gilmartin who has now released a dozen singles under the moniker since 2021.

We have no idea what it is sampling, as it has obviously been speed up, but thought that it sounded good enough to share. If you know what it is then please leave a comment.

Chicago singer. songwriter, model  K.Marie (Kayla Bell) has been singing since she was 5 yrs old and writing songs for almost a decade. 

She debuted in Aug 2020 with a single "A Love Letter To You" and, with another six singles and two EPs now under her belt, releases her third EP, "Find A Way", consisting of six new songs.

It's what we would describe as soulful R&B and rather pleasant if that's your thing. Our choice cut is the final track "Crazy Love".

Millie Whitestone [2024] - Letter To Myself [BORN2BE Records]

Believe it or not, yet another new artist with a debut release. However, we did manage to find some info on her from the label's website.

Millie Whitestone is an up and coming singer from Gloucester who gained recognition from singing covers and busking in her home town. Through BORN2BE Records she has been working with producers in Bristol. She has even secured a performance at Glastonbury.

Her first single (we believe) is "Letter To Myself" released today (29 Mar). However, we found live performance videos on YouTube for her dating back 7 years, so we can't be certain, except that it is the only material currently available for her.

Hadassah is not a new artist as she has been around since 2017, yet we can find nothing about her. It would appear, from song writing credits on most of her songs, that her real name is Esther Branch.

Including her latest single, "Groove",(26 Mar), she has released eleven singles and a four track EP since 2017.

JUNO [2024] - I'm The Man [Self Released]

JUNO are Brisbane based duo Kahlia Ferguson (vocalist who was previously lead singer of Sunflower and family band The Fergies) and Sam Woods (songwriter/producer & bassist) who burst onto the scene in 2021 after posting song snippets on their social media which developed into full song releases and live shows.

After a single in each of 2021 and 2022 they released five singles in 2023 and now release their first of 2024, "i'm the man".
