You may recall that yesterday we posted a Soul Direction reissue by
Wee with two previously unreleased takes of songs from the
expanded 2008 reissue of their 1978 album "We Can Fly On An
Aeroplane".
The mastermind behind Wee was Norman Whiteside who wrote,
arranged and sang the songs on the album. He was controversially
convicted of a serious offence for which he protested his innocence and
spent 31 years in prison being released in Sep 2016. It seems a classic
case of being the the wrong place at the wrong time! You can read about

Whiteside is now 70 years old and has released a new 14 track album titled "Sincerely Yours". Our choice cut is the jazz funk instrumental "JIOP (Jehovah Is On Point)".
Included below is a video of Whiteside playing "Aeroplane (Reprise)" from "We Can Fly On An Aeroplane" sampled by Kanye West for "Bound
2" in 2013 for which Whiteside received a Grammy nomination whist still
in prison.
