Kharia Cabral & JIVA's last release was an album titled "5" just over a year ago on 21 Jul '22. One of the tracks was a cover of
James Mason's "Sweet Power Your Embrace" ("Rhythm of Life" 1977). which featured Lizz Wright. It has been given a Kai Alcé NDATL Remix that will be hitting the streets on Friday (25 Aug).
Ralph Tee and his Expansion Records covered it in Nov 2015 as Diplomats
of Soul feat. Incognito & Vanessa Haynes and released it with three
mixes digitally and on 12" with only two fitting on the 7" vinyl.
Kai Alcé (pronounced Al-Say) (aka The Kaizer) is of Haitian descent growing up
in Queens, NYC, before moving to Detroit in 1980 becoming involved in
Techno. He later moved to Atlanta to study Psychology (at Morehouse
College). Whilst there he set up a residency, DEEP, at the MJQ club
playing deep house and techno. NDATL is the name of his label which is an
acronym for the cities where he has lived New York, Detroit and
Atlanta.
Khari Cabral & JIVA are Khari Cabral Simmons who also hails from Atlanta, and Rodney Edge (JIVA).
