The song "Sweet Memories" was originally recorded by The New Sound on their
solitary album "The New Sounds" on Turbo in 1970. Robert Tanner was one of three lead
singers with the group and recorded a solo version the same year on
Megatone which has become a trophy record in rare soul circles selling for
up to £3.5k.
Both versions were reissued on 45 by Outta Sight in 2012 with both sides
extracted from their 2011 CD only compilation "Willie & West Meet The New Sounds".
Numero Group has reissued it digitally today, so if you're not hung up on
having it on vinyl and want save a few grand then snap it up or buy the CD
or 45 reissue from Outta Sight, if still available otherwise it's the resale
market.
The New Sound album is also in-demand and
Hit And Run
reissued three tracks from it last Aug.

The 2 versions of "Sweet Memories" are superb. Note Robert Tanner's first single on Megatone 111 which is also excellent. Small label from Lynchburg, Virginia, where you can find some nuggets between 1968 and 1970.
