Classy jazz trumpeter Lin Rountree releases his eighth
album "The Message" today. He's release an album every two or three years since his first
"Groovetree" in 2005.
The lead single was "It's You" (Jan '23) with the current single being "Solid", also released today. As you would expect from a trumpeter, the album is
predominantly instrumental with "A Little Closer" being our instrumental pick which is a driving jazz funker. Guests
include New Zealand guitarist, saxophonist and bassist
Ryan La Valette on two tracks (including the single "Solid")
and Gary Johnson.
Only one vocal track is included, "One You", which features Algebra Blessett. Stokes & Machine are currently riding high with their current single
"Freeway" and Rountree & Blessett featured on their last single "All My Black" in Sep '22.
Rountree was born in New York in 1971 growing up in Alexandria, VA, where
he learnt to play trumpet aged 11. After graduating from Florida A&M he
moved to Detroit. His first three albums were independently released until
he signed to Trippin N Rhythm Records in 2013.
