Bella Brown & The Jealous Lovers [2023] - What Will You Leave Behind [LRK Records]

In April 2022 LRK Records released two tracks from Bella Brown & The Jealous Lovers on  7" vinyl. They were the title track from their 2018 EP "Get Mine" along with "I'm Gone" from their "Rocket" EP in 2021.

The group, fronted by Bella Brown (aka Carol Lynn Hatchett), originate from Chicago but are now based in L.A. and specialise in 60s/70s soul and funk. On their website it states "Imagine a band that is Sharon Jones meets James Brown while putting a modern twist on 70s soul and funk music".

The latest song to be released by LRK Records is "What Will You Leave Behind", which is an new song not previously released that the label tells us is "A Motown influenced message of hope that features sympathetic vocals, supportive horns, and a funky twist that asks us to create a better future by considering the effects of our present" and "a heartfelt call to action in these times of failed humanity and injustice".

The single will be available on digital platforms on 3 Mar '23 but look out for further details of a future 7" vinyl release.

To date the band has released two EPs "Get Mine" (2018) which contains three original songs and two covers "Give It Up Or Turnit A Loose" James Brown and "Shake" Sam Cooke. Similarly their second EP "Rocket" (2021) has two covers "I Can't Get Next To You" Temptations and King Floyd's "Groove Me".
