Sometimes referred to as "The R. Kelly of The South" (which he won't be thankful for now), Omar Cunningham is one of the more established modern southern soul singers who started his career with Daybreak. I don't think it's the same group who recorded the Patrick Adams produced modern soul classic "Everything Man" / "I Need Love" in 1977 as they were from New York and Cunningham is from just outside Birmingham, AL, but could be wrong.
He released a solo album "Hell In The House" in 2003 and now has six albums under his belt. His latest single "You" was released yesterday (13 Feb 2023) which appears to he his first solo effort since "Drowning" in Sep 2021 which followed "The Mess We Made" with Mz Pat a few months earlier in Jun 2021.
