Kim Tavar is a singer/songwriter from Boston, Massachusetts
and Pittsburgh, PA. She released her debut album "My Story" as Kim Tavares in Feb 2021, initially on Bandcamp and then on all major
DSPs in March. It consisted of 13 original songs written by
Kim.
Since then she has changed her name from Tavares to Tavar and has
released a couple of singles "1+1 Don't = 3" in Aug 2021 (which reached #3 on the Global Soul Chart) and another in
Apr 2020 "Tired (Do You Hear Me Now)" which was her first since her appearance at 'Back To Love Weekender' in
Southport (UK) in Sep 2021 where she was very well received.
In addition to appearing at 'Back To Love Weekender', Kim opened
for Philly legend Dexter Wansel at the Jazz Cafe in London.
Her latest single "Good Ole Day" is due on 14 Oct 2022 and brings back that old school sound from the 70s, 80s, 90s which she
describes as "grown folks music - meaningful lyrics, pretty melodies, catchy hooks and a pleasant tone".
Kim is no stranger to the music business having toured with several top
40 bands in and around New England in the 90s and 2000s. As a solo artist
and veteran of the Boston Police Department, she has performed The
National Anthem/God Bless America at The New England Patriots, The Boston
Red Sox and The Boston Celtics games along with several performances in
Washington DC as well as the US Capitol Peace Officer
Memorial.
She has recently collaborated with 6-time BMI Award winning producer,
Preston Glass (Aretha Franklin, Narada Michael Walden, Thom Bell, Whitney
Houston, Kenny G) and Grammy award winner Antone 'Chubby' Tavares (from
the group Tavares) and is credited as songwriter with both of these
legends.
