It's been a while, five years to be exact, since Lija Rolavs aka
Princess Freesia released her last solo album "Stellarsonic!", although she did feature with Soulpersona on "Extended Pleasure"
which was in SoulStrutter's
2020 Reveiew - Best Albums. She has also recorded with Soulpersona's Morgan Howell under aliases
Soulperfreesia and Avalon Lexus.
Her new album is aptly titled "Return To Pleasure" and is self-released today (26 Aug 2022) from crowd funding. The lead single is "Forbidden Fruit"
released on 5 Aug (video below).
Lija is an Aussie from the Gold Coast, now based in Brighton (UK). She
began as a session vocalist, working live and in the studio for soul legends such
Jocelyn Brown, Leon Ware, Ben E King, Jean Carne, The Valentine Brothers,
Roy Ayers, Arthur Baker and Shirley Jones (from The Jones
Girls).
She has asked that if you purchase the album to please buy it from Bandcamp
as that supports her best financially, and that goes for all artists/labels
who release material via Bandcamp. i.e. buy their first if available. Also,
if you buy the full album it comes with a 12 page booklet that includes
lyrics for each song.
