When ploughing through literally hundreds of new releases daily I have
to admit that whether I open and listen to one or not is often
influenced by the cover art and artist name as there simply isn't enough time to check
everything out. That said, I hesitated to open this one by Garret P.
Tyler as he looks like an unlikely soul candidate but I'm glad I did as
the jazzy opening track drew me in.
Garret P. Tyler is from Nashville, TN, and describes
himself as "a multi-instrumentalist whose eclectic musical style engages
listeners of all backgrounds. Combining experimental pop production,
hypnotic drum beats, ethereal musical interludes, and organic R&B
melodies, he creates a sound both fresh and familiar".
He debuted last year and has released three singles to date ("New Normal" (Sep 2021), "Lady" (Oct 2021), "The Moment" (Feb 2022)), all included on his debut album "New Normal" released today (3 Jun 2022).
The standout is the title track released as his first single which
features
Davie (from Chicago) sharing lead vocals.
