As alluded to in a previous post for their new single "Children Of The Ghetto", The Real Thing have a new album released today (28 Jan
2022) "A Brand New Day".
As well as "Children Of The Ghetto" they have also released another
track as a single "Hang On, Never Let Go". As far as I can tell it hasn't been released before except for on a
2006 Outta Sight compilation "It's The Real Thing: The Singles Collection".
There are some nice tracks on this new album, along with the two singles,
"Who", "God Help The Child", "Hope" and "Frontline", all of which I believe are new songs all written by Chris Amoo.
Eddie (Eddy) Amoo was a member of The Chants in the 60s whose claim to fame
is that they are the only group to have backed The Beatles (they also did
quite a good cover of Jackie Wilson's" I Get The Sweetest Feeling" in 1969
posted
HERE)! Chris Amoo was a member of The Sophisticated Soul
Brothers who were renamed The Real Thing by their manager Tony Hall in 1972
after seeing a Coca Cola neon sign in London's Piccadilly Circus. Eddie later
joined the group and they went on to have a #1 UK pop hit in 1976 with "You
To Me Are Everything" which was to be their only US chart
entry.
