Frank Fioravanti, the owner of Sound Gems, sent me some links to new (and
old) material which I've picked through and this one immediately jumped
out with the name to which I promptly asked whether Davante DeVaughn
was any relation to William (DeVaughn) and the answer was a
negative.
It is of course a new version (released 5 Jan 2022) of the 1974 William
DeVaughn classic "Be Thankful for What You Got" covered by so many. I did a
version excursion
last year and found 80 plus versions and left many out so there must be
well over 100! However, Frank Fioravanti produced the original version with John Davis who also
arranged it. The song was written by DeVaughn and unless you've been living
under a rock it should be familiar.
