Nuwamba (aka Demetress Cook) is a Fort Worth native (of
Indigenous American - Dominican Heritage) whose sound fuses African
drumming, Latin rhythms and hip hop beats with indie soul R&B
vocals.
His latest album "Love Ase" was released yesterday (6 Aug 2021) and includes some nice tracks.
The better tracks on first listen include "To The Light", "Unusual", and mellower ones such as "Enuf Is Enuf", "Waiting", "Make It Through" and "I Wonder", so plenty of good tracks to make it a worthwhile listen!
My personal favourites are the deep ballads "Enuf Is Enuf" and "Waiting" along with the stepper "To The Light".
His debut album "Above The Water" was released in 2005 and as far as I can tell this will be his third
album (or fourth if you include a remixed edition of his second album
"Heavens").
