Showship is the brainchild of Detroit guitarist
Adell "Showboat" Shavers Jr. who was mentored by none other
than Stevie Wonder.
"The Greatest Part of Loving You" features a vocalist named Beth Griffith (daughter of Johnny Griffith
who was a member of The Funk Brothers) and is the third single to be
pre-released (23 Jun 2021) from a forthcoming debut album titled "School Soul Vol. 1" on Showship Records. It's a good modern soul style dancer. Beth's vocals on this track really
lift it for me!
The song was written by Adell Shavers who was a member of
Straight Jacket
who recorded it in 1980 on Showboat. Athens Of The North reissued it in
2015.
The album's songs are a part of the evolution of the Motown sound
which contains different elements of Jazz, R&B, Gospel and Pop.
Showboat utilises some very well known singers and some new upcoming
artists, as well as talented musicians who have already made a mark in
these genres.
