Lonnie Hewitt was a pianist who performed with latin jazz
vibraphonist Cal Tjader. He set up Wee records in Oakland which ran in the 60s and 70s which
primarily released material from himself, Freddie Hughes, and The Ballads
(of which Hughes was a member).
It released around 16 singles, many of
which have been loved on the UK rare soul scene, such as Ernie Marbury 'Ain't Nobody's Business', Ballads
'Can't See Your Love', Mary Stallings
'You Gotta Git', Freddie Hughes
'My Baby Came Back', 'Send My Baby Back',
'Where's My Baby'.
This single was released in 1969 and sounds very similar to another track 'Got To Keep My Bluff In' released by Freddie Hughes in 1968 on Wand and also recorded by Hewitt and released on Wee in 1977.
