Doc records was based out of Rydal, Pennsylvania, a suburb just north of Philly. This track was originally played in the late Wigan era by Richard Searling. A tune from the west coast Motown writing trio Chester & Gary Pipkin and Marc Gordon. It's strange how this appeared on a Rydal PA label (as was Sandy Wynns also) when it was produced by Marc Gordon and Frank Wilson so it was most definitely a west coast recording.

A lot of influences are going on here, which is probably why this is such a well liked and sought after 45. The vocal group sounds a lot like Motown's Rayber Voices. A little doo wop, a little big production pop, and a lot of soul.

Ekunday Paris (aka David Paris) recorded a couple of 45s with his brother Adeniya Paris in 1959-60 as Paris Brothers

Prior to the Doc 45 he also released a 45 as Mr. Tears (Paris) on 4J records in 1963 Excuse Me Baby / Don't Lead Me On.  In addition a test pressing has been found of an unreleased 1970 LP 'Paris Has Arrived'.  A cover version of Sam Cooke's A Change Is Gonna Come was released on a Uni promo 55423 but the album was never issued and the track listing (other than A Change Is Gonna Come) is unknown..
