The Park Avenue Experience [2023] - Time and Time Again [JINUROCK Entertainment] (Full Album)

The Park Avenue Experience is a jazz project led by Sicilian Fabio Puglisi, who you may remember is behind Soul Basement who released a five track EP "Do No Wrong" last August from which Newcastle based Six Nine Records released two tracks on vinyl ("Take Me Back" c/w "Tryin' Hard").

On their brand new album, "Time And Time Again" (which is their fourth since 2020), they take a deep dive into the everyday i.e. countless different experiences, various colours, emotions, ups and downs, and everything that contributes to our evolution and growth, usually making us better, time after time.

Fabio tells us, "the band has tried to enclose in these ten new songs the collective imagination of a world that lives day by day, with billions each on their own path".

The group comprises Fabio Puglisi (piano & keys), Tony Vinci (guitar), Darius Martin (bass) and Enrico Aprile (drums).

The album has been recorded live, with no overdubs, and for the first time features guitars resulting in one of their smoothest albums so far. With a running time of just under 45 minutes, pour yourself a long drink, dim the lights and just chill and let The Park Avenue Experience take you on a ride.

Cleveland P. Jones [2022] - Come Closer to ME [P3P Music Group] (Full EP)

Cleveland P. Jones last appeared on these pages as a featured artist on Khari Cabral & JIVA "Show Me The Way" in Mar  2022.

He is currently working on his first jazz album and has decided to share three tracks on an EP he's titled "Come Closer To ME".  The first is his rendition of a Hoagy Carmichael classic, "Skylark", which just oozes class!

The second track is  an original song, "Come Closer To Me", written by Jones 

The third and final track is "Here's To Life" penned by Artie Butler and Phyllis Molinary. Curiously I was only listening again to Dione Bullard's recent version yesterday (included below) and what a performance. Cleveland reflects that he was inspired by the song after listening to Shirley Horn's original on a cassette when he was 19.

I came across a recent video at City Winery, Atlanta (his home town) of a performance of Leon Russell's "A Song For You" (included  below) so I wonder if that will be included on his forthcoming album?

Also I noticed from his facebook that Cleveland is celebrating his birthday today, so happy birthday Cleveland.

Note that whilst the sound files are available on Spotify and appear on a couple of DSP's I can't find it for sale on Amazon and it only seems to be for sale on Bandcamp.

Pharez Whitted Feat. Opal Staples [2021] - Perfect Stranger (Remix) [Get Whitted Music]

From the new album "Pharoah Smooth" by Pharez Witted released on 23 Aug 2021 is this track "Perfect Stranger (Remix)" featuring Opal Staples (who despite the name I don't think is related to the Staples Singers?). The original version (included below) appeared on his 2014 album "The Tree Of Life" which also featured Opal Staples.

Pharez Whitted is a jazz trumpeter from Indiana whose musical legacy dates back to the 30s, his mother was Virtue Hampton, uncle Slide Hampton and aunt Dawn Hampton and his father was a drummer for Freddie Hubbard and Wes Montgomery. He debuted in 1994 with a self-titled album on Motown.

Søren Baun is a jazz pianist / blue-eyed soul singer from Copenhagen, Denmark.

He also released another single on 21 May 2021 called "Sister" which isn't bad at all and very reminiscent of Jarrod Lawson.
