Jane Handcock [2024] - Southside Love [Death Row Records]

Since her album "World Of Women" in Jan '23, Oakland's Jane Hancock (Myariah Summers) has released four live singles and a song from the The Color Purple 2023 OST ("100"), so the new single "Southside Love" released today is the first original studio recording since. As with the album, it's released on Death Row Records now owned by Snoop Dogg since Feb '22.

After moving to Atlanta Jane  was mentored by Raphael Saadiq and released her second album 'Raphael Saadiq Presents Jane Handcock Truth Explains A Lot' in 2017 which followed up her debut 'Truth Be Told' in 2016. She's since released a further five albums and around a 18 singles and 5 EPs as well as writing material for many other artists.

Jane Handcock [2023] - World Of Women [Death Row Records] (Full Album)

Last week Jane Handcock released a single "Layin Next To Me" and follows it this week with a full album, "World Of Women". It's a mixed bag for soulies as half the tracks feature Snoop Dogg and are hip hop. One, "Man's Mad World"  has a reggae vibe.

However, a few tracks may appeal, the single "Layin Next To Me" along with "Best Friend" and "I Wanna Thank Me 2.0" (both featuring Snoop Dogg) and  "Gudtyme".

Jane Handcock [2022] - Til We Meet Again (Clean) [Def Jam]

Jane Handcock (Myariah Summers) has a new single out today "Til We Meet Again". It has a clean and an explicit version but the only one available on Spotify seems to be the explicit one.

I'm sure I detect The Dramatics "In The Rain" being sampled and quite why Snoop Dogg features on the sleeve is anyone's guess, although she did feature on the "Snoop Dogg Presents Algorithm" album so perhaps he produced the single?

Thanks to Franklin Sinclair for the heads up on this one!

Jane Handcock [2021] - 90's Love (The Realm Remix) [The Realm Productions]

This one's been getting lots of airplay recently and I've been waiting for it to appear on digital platforms to post it. In fact I even contacted Manny 'The Realm' Rahelu last week to try to get a copy as it wasn't even available on his website.

It is only currently available on Amazon (released 21 May 2021) and unfortunately I can't find it anywhere with a sound file (i.e Spotify, YouTube, BandCamp, SoundCloud etc.), so to at least give you and idea of what it sounds like (if you aren't already familiar with it) I've posted the original version from 2019.

The Realm's remix beefs it up into a dancefloor winner.

Jane Hancock was born Myariah Summers in Oakland, CA, and moved to Atlanta where she was mentored by Raphael Saadiq and released her second album 'Raphael Saadiq Presents Jane Handcock Truth Explains A Lot' in 2017 which followed up her debut 'Truth Be Told' in 2016. She's since released a further four albums and around a dozen singles/EPs.
