One for the farmers, gardeners and fire fighters. I don't know what it was like for the rest of the UK but it tipped down with rain here for a few hours last night, and most welcome it was too, clearing the air.

The title track from GarciaWalker&Durrell's superb album last year (and SoulStrutter top 3 album for 2021) "Praying For Rain", any excuse to re-post! I invite you to revisit the full album to remind you how good it was.

This is a surprise! The album has turned up on Amazon with a release date stating 5 Jul - which can't be right (other DSPs say today (31 Jul) which seems more accurate), but at least it's good to know that it's available digitally which wasn't stated anywhere in the publicity. GarciaWalker&Durrell [2021] - Get Into Your Life - Tom Moulton Mixes [Soul Intention #SI12-001]

Following the release of GarciaWalker&Durrell's previously unreleased album "Praying For Rain", due out today (30 Jul 2021), Soul Intention will release their first ever 12" next Friday (6 Aug 2021). 

What better track to put on it than GarciaWalker&Durrell's cover of  Beloyd's 1977 modern soul gem "Get Into Your Life". But wait ... it gets even better as it's not the 7" version released in March, nor the 4:14 album version on "Praying For Rain", it consists of three mixes.: a 5:22 extended version plus Tom Moulton Remixes in two sizes, the full mix (8:34) and a Radio Edit (4:07).

I posted a 6:47 Tom Moulton mix in March when I posted the Soul-Intention 7" release as it was posted on YT by DJ Juan (Jay) Negron, so I don't know where he got it from?

Oh man ... is the Tom Moulton extended mix good or what? An absolute "must buy" for any serious soul connoisseur! It will be available in limited quantity and it's highly likely that the album will sell like hot cakes and this 12" will shift even quicker, so pre-order (link on label images) to bag one and avoid disappointment or risk paying a ransom on Discogs for one later if you miss out!

GarciaWalker&Durrell [2021] - Praying For Rain [Soul-Intention #SILP001]

Here's a real treat for you! The GarciaWalker&Durrell album "Praying For Rain" is due for release on Friday (30 Jul 2021) but here's a sneak preview (I posted it last week but only three of the tracks).  

I 'assume' that this will be available on vinyl only (initially at least)  If you want one, there is no guarantee that it will be made available digitally, so I suggest you'll need to procure one from your favourite vinyl dealer (e.g. Mark Coddington's First Experience Records). As always, I guess these are limited edition only and when they're gone, they're gone and will inevitably end up on Discogs for double/triple the face value or more, so get one at face value while you can when released on Friday, or better still pre-order so you don't miss out! 

I'm sure this will be one of the albums of the year, but don't take my word for it, listen to the sound files below for yourself, there is not a bad track, and there's a few gems already picking up airplay such as the title track "Praying For Rain", "Now That You've Gone", "Maybe Next Time", "Just Gotta Have You" and of course the cover of Beloyd Taylor's modern soul classic "Get Into Your Life".

A few of the tracks have been available previously, the cover of  Beloyd's  "Get Into Your Life" was released on 45 in Mar 2021 and the title track "Praying For Rain" was featured on Soul Togetherness 2014 compilation.  It would also appear that "Gotta Have You" may have been released (or leaked) around 2016 as there are a couple of videos on YT of it..

Vince Garcia was an original member of Drizabone with Billy April who were essentially producers who drafted in, generally female, vocalists (Sophie Jones, Dee Heron and then  Kymberley Peer) to feature of their tracks. He left in the mid 90s and moved from London to Yorkshire. Mike Walker was the original keyboardist with Drizabone and Vince Durrell is from L.A. who Walker discovered busking in his home town of Leeds.

Garcia met Walker again by chance who introduced him to Durrell and Garcia set up a studio in his new home in Hull and they began recording songs. He later moved back to London and created a new studio where he began putting together "Praying For Rain". By all accounts the tapes were leaked to soul radio stations who started playing the title track which resulted in it being released on the Soul Togetherness 2014 compilation.  There was a buzz but for some inexplicable reason the album was never released ... until now.
