Allysha Joy [2024] - Stay [First Word Records]

Melbourne's Allysha Joy last appeared here featuring on Energy Exchange Ensemble's "Brighter Star" in Aug '23. Prior to that with her sophomore album "Torn : Tonic" in May '22 which followed "Acadie : Raw" in 2018. Allysha is also the lead singer for 30/70 Collective. and has graced the stage alongside Ezra Collective and Children Of Zeus amongst many others.

Her first solo single of 2024 is Stay released on 24 Apr.

Energy Exchange Ensemble feat. Allysha Joy [2023] - Brighter Star [Energy Exchange Records]

The third single from a forthcoming album ("Energy Exchange Records Vol I." due on 8 Sep) by Energy Exchange Ensemble features Allysah Joy on "Brighter Star".

The first single was "Lime Green Skies" feat. Oscar Jerome (15 Jun) and the second "Obana (Zeitgeist 808 Remix)" feat. King Owusu (Jemba Groove) (13 Jul).

The guys behind Energy Exchange Ensemble (EX Ensemble) are producer/mix engineer/keyboradist Lewis Moody and DJ/producer/drummer Ziggy Zeitgeist who are long time collaborators and pioneers of Melbourne’s underground sound through collectives such as 30/70 and Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange.

The album was recorded over 12 months in three cities in impromptu after hours recording sessions.

Allysha Joy [2022] - Torn : Tonic [First Word Records] (Full Album)

Allysha Joy is from Melbourne, Australia (aka Naarm it's Aboriginal name which she uses) and is the lead singer for 30/70 Collective. She released her debut solo album "Acadie : Raw" in 2018 and follows it today with her new album "Torn : Tonic".

Not one for the faint-hearted or traditionalists as it's quite a genre-bending, eclectic mix of future soul, jazz, broken beats and everything else bar the kitchen sink! 

Three tracks have already been let loose as singles "Calling You" with Ego Ella May (last week 6 May), "Still Dreamin'" with Rara Zulu (Apr) and "Let It" (Mar). I think my pick of the new material would have to be "Remedy" and "Healing" but it is definitely one of those album that needs to be listened to quite a few times to full appreciate as it's very different.
