Shafiq Husayn [2023] - So Gold [Nature Sounds] (Full Album)

Perhaps best known as one third of innovative and progressive L.A. collective Sa Ra Creative Partners formed in the 90s, musician, producer, songwriter and artist Shafiq Husayn has worked with artists such as Heavy D, Bilal, Erykah Badu, Dr Dre, Jill Scott, John Legend, Kanye West, Frank Ocean, Anderson .Paak and Ty Dolla $ign amongst many others.

He emerged in the early 90s under the alias SLJ (which are his initials as his real name is Steffon Lester Johns) and recently won a Grammy for his work on Robert Glasper's breakthrough album "Black Radio".

His latest solo album "So Gold" is his fifth or sixth and features a host of guest artists including Andersen .Paak on two tracks, one of which is "Crush You" released as a single on 30 May '23. Another two singles have been released: "No Particulars", the day before album release on 8 Jun, and "Sofas" 21 Apr.

The album is progressive and futuristic and may not be for traditionalists but the two tracks we'd highlight are the single "No Particulars" and "All Night".

Ms. Bobbie The Art Pixie [2023] - Slowly The Art Pixie EP [Self Released]

Ms. Bobbie The Art Pixie (Bobbie Kumar) is an artist from Brampton, Ontario. She graduated from Metalworks Institute, a music school for audio production and engineering just outside 'you know where' ... Toronto!

Her debut EP "Slowly The Art Pixie" is a bit 'out there' with only really "Superstar", which features Chance Burlock, of much soul interest. It has already been released as a single in Jan '23 followed by "Want" in Mar '23.

30/70 [2023] - Art Make Love [Energy Exchange Records] (Full Album)

30/70 is a collective of ten musicians from the vibrant neo soul scene in Melbourne featuring Allysha Joy on lead vocals. Their catalogue goes back to 2014 with four studio, a remixed, and one live album under their belt along with around half a dozen singles and an EP.

They released their fifth album "Art Make Love" on Friday (17 Feb '23) from which they released the lead single "ALL 4U" last Oct and the next single  "ACCEPTANCE" on 17 Jan.

As with a lot of Allysha Joy's material, it is a bit futuristic and 'out there' but "Joy Luv" I guess will have broader appeal.

At present I can't seem to find it available digitally on Amazon but there are vinyl copies (£38.85). Digital copies available on Bandcamp.

Georgie Sweet [2023] - A Friend To All [Futuristica Music]

A Bandcamp only released single "A Friend To All" by Georgie Sweet on Futuristica Music which follows her "My Energy" from last Sep.

Her only other available releases are her 2020 album "Misunderstood" and "Circled", a track from a compilation "Futuristica 15", although on the previous post for "Circled" we pulled together some other recordings on which she has been a featured vocalist.

Futuristica was set up in by DJ Simon S (Simon Skolfieldtook) in 2006 and the "Futustica 15" compilation was a celebration of their 15th anniversary.
