Currently riding high with her latest album, "Good Life" released only last week, a song by Ledisi released last year, from a
Netflix movie soundtrack for "Rustin", seems to have gone by relatively unnoticed.
"The Knowing" was slipped out at as a single at end of Oct. before her second single
from the album, "Sell Your Dreams", in Nov. The "Rustin" soundtrack album by Branford Marsalis was released a week after the single (3 Nov) with "The Knowing" as the closing track.
Rustin
is a film about civil rights activist Bayard Rustin who was instrumental
in organising the freedom march on Washington in 1963. It premiered on
Netflix
on 17 Nov '23. Rustin is portrayed by Colman Domingo who has been
nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor in a leading role in this year's
Academy Awards.
