Whilst on the subject of selling the same material over again, as we were on the Kara Frazier post, a couple of weeks ago Melba Moore did her more
contemporary take on Ashford & Simson's "It Seems To Hang On".
Today she has released a remix of it (Pride Mix no prizes
for guessing what audience that's aimed at) and packaged it, along with
the previous version of the song, as additional tracks on her "Imagine" album released last April ('22) and called it "Deluxe Edition".
All we can say is that it's a good job you can download single tracks as
it would be a hard sell (i.e. buying the whole album for one new track)
but to be fair we guess it's just being remarketed with the two new songs
tagged on, yet not her previous single "Not Too Late". That's most likely due to it being released by MoonTown Records and
not Orpheus Enterprises, like the other omission, her duet with Carmichael
Musiclover "Company" (Feb '22) released by Anala Records.
Another gripe is that the CD edition is ridiculously priced (on Amazon UK at least) at £32.72. No one in their right mind is going to pay that for a new release 12 track album on CD, as that is overpriced even for vinyl! Sorry Melba, but you need a word with your marketing department who need a 'check up from the neck up' on that one!
If for some reason you missed or passed up on the album first time
around, then the killer track (in the UK at least as our US cousins
passed up on it as a single) is "Take Her Picture Down". We thought that it was similar to McFadden & Whitehead's "I've Been Pushed Aside" (which was
sampled by Everis on his "What U Doin' 2 Me").
