Last week we posted the promo for Tygressa's latest single which is a
cover of a classic 70s tune "Pillow Talk" recorded by Sylvia Robinson. It is officially released today (3 May '23) with a
sleeve image of a 45. Whether or not that means it will be available on
vinyl we do not know, however, the reasoning behind the cover is to
celebrate the 50th anniversary of its original release by Sylvia on
Vibration. A music video has also been provided which begins with a retro scene of Tygressa in 70s regalia.
Sylvia Robinson was behind Sugar Hill Records, and her original version
was posted along with an unreleased version by Janet Jackson (and a couple of others) in Dec '22.
Tygressa (Jones) hit #1 with her debut release "Hey You (A Minute With You)" in Jul '21. If you recall, she is from Fort Washington, MD, and regularly performs
tribute shows "Tygressa Sings Natalie…Remembering Natalie Cole, a
tribute".
Apart from her version of "White Christmas" released at the end on Nov last year, it is her first single for a year
since "My Love's Coming Down" in Feb '22.
