Numero Group continue to digitally reissue rarities from the 60s. One of
their latest is the only known single from The Headlines "He's Looking For Love" originally released on the tiny Luau label which was part of Boddie
Recording Co, Cleveland, OH, in 1966. It is the last of only eight singles
on the label between 1965-66 and now sells for up to £300, although
Manship has one currently listed on Discogs for £400!
Numero Group also released it on a 2014 compilation "Tinmine Soul Supply" which is a great compilation of some pretty rare Northern Soul tunes
which is still available digitally on Bandcamp. The compilation includes
an alternate version of Jimmy Burns "I Really Love You" by Brand New
Faces, Walter And The Admerations "Man Oh Man", Imperial Wonders "It's
Just A Dream" as well as tried and tested classics such as Lou Ragland and
Eula Cooper. The sleeve notes are worth a read as it has a little dig at
the OVO BS as Numero ripped many of these from vinyl rather than master
tapes which probably no longer exist.
We found this trawling Amazon releases in the week but were not able to
open the listing so can't provide the usual link. Nor is it available on Apple but it is on Deezer which might suggest that
it's streaming only as it is available on Spotify. However, you can find a
previous release on Amazon as a track on an earlier Numero Group compilation
"Boddie Recording Company: Cleveland, OH." from 2011.
