With three more UK dates still to complete, the much vaunted new single from Jarrod Lawson is out today digitally and on 7" vinyl. Jarrod channels his inner
Prince (the purple one ... hence the label colours presumably?) with an interpretation of "I Would Die For U". On vinyl It will be paired with his last single, which of course was
The Isley Brothers "Footsteps In The Dark" but a 4:18 edited version to fit on the vinyl release.
Both sides of the new single feature long time cohorts, Chance Hayden
(guitar) and Tyrone Hendrix (drums).
Jarrod tells us that the Prince song is "a very special song to me as I have vivid memories of riding around
in the car with my mom as a child and singing along to this song
together. It’s kinda always been my favorite amongst Prince’s
vast catalog of sonic gems. This coupled with the fact that I
just happened to have been in attendance at the Fox Theater in Atlanta
for the purple one’s final performance before his untimely departure,
compelled me to work up a proper tribute to this unquestionable genius
that the world was forever changed by".
