Jay Jay is ten-piece funk band from Baltimore, MD. I
think they go back a ways as there is a live video of them performing in
1999 on YouTube.
The band members are Marc Rey, John Aversa, Keever Frye, Julie Mays,
Dan Cryer, Mike Anderson, Brian Pirrone, Dan Blankinship, Mr. Saw, Joe
Taylor.
It's difficult trying to ascertain their back catalogue as they seem to get
bundled with other artists with the same name on most platforms, but I think
"The Battle Of Crab Vs Fool" is only their second album. The first was released in 2002 titled "Four
Years After", which may be a reference to when they were formed i.e
1998?
The tracks that appeal to me most are the two where Julie Mays takes lead on "All On You", which is a bit of a funky stepper, and "No One Else" which has a bit of jazz opening with a muted horn.
