They're coming thick and fast, no sooner has Paul Simpson released the
Touch Of Class Philladelphia Re-edit Sessions on 15 Jun, it is now superseded by
The Tymes on 28 Jun 2022 and, like all the others, is ONLY
available via
Bandcamp
for 2 weeks (12 Jul 2022).
Formed in 1956 in Philadelphia as The Latineers, they changed their
name to The Tymes in 1960 and had a Hot 100 #1 hit with "So Much In
Love" in 1963 (note that the version on this album is a (better) 70s re-recording) and had another six Hot 100 entries in the 60s. However,
this compilation of remixes focusses on their 70s period between
1974-77.
They had hits both sides of the pond with "You Little Trustmaker" and "Ms Grace" which reached #1 on UK pop chart in 1974. "God's Gonna Punish You" was a UK hit (#41) (but didn't even enter the US R&B chart)
and "It's Cool" hit stateside (#68).
There are some real gems on this compilation and how some of them, that
were released as singles, never charted, even on R&B chart, is beyond
belief, especially "Only Your Love" (which reminds me very much of The Joneses "Sugar Pie Guy" which preceded it by a year)!

Beware, track 14 is incorrect and is in fact a repeat of track 13
Thanks for pointing this out. I've checked the download hoping that it was just an error uploading to Bandcamp but you are absolutely correct even on the download tracks 13 and 14 are the same. I will try to let him know.
