Hot on the success of the Expansion double sider "Here I Go Again" / "Eye To Eye", Output / Input releases their second double sider on the label with a new song
"I'm In Love" featuring Antonio McLendon paired with a cover of "Can't Hide Love" previously released in Feb 2021 featuring Brent Carter (Tower Of Power / AWB) on lead.
"Can't Hide Love" is a Skip Scarborough written song that always seems to
get credited to EWF (who had a #11 R&B #38 Hot 100 hit with it
in 1976) when actually Creative Source recorded it first in 1973 (and had
a minor hit with it #48 R&B) and EWF covered it on "Gratitude" in 1975
before releasing it as a single. It has since been covered dozens of times
(SecondHandSongs lists 32 but there are many more than that as this version and a
few of the more recent covers have not been included such as EWF & Lucky Daye and Tony Hightower and also Perry & Sanlin's 1980 version is not listed and there are bound to be others.
Output/Input was formed during lockdown by Californian native,
bassist/composer/producer, Melvin Lee Davis who is also Music
Director for Chaka Khan.
These two tracks were made available via
Bandcamp
on 3 Jun 2022 but have now been released on all digital platforms today
(24 Jun 2022).
