Output/Input [2022] - Here We Go Again / Eye To Eye (Luxury Soul Mix) [Expansion]


Output/Input have signed a two single deal with Ralph Tee's Expansion Records. The first single is a cover of The Isley Brothers 1980 single "Here We Go Again" featuring Audrey Wheeler and Brent Carter sharing lead vocals (posted from promo on 10 Mar) flipped with the Luxury Soul Mix (which removes the guitar solo) of their cover of Chaka Khan's "Eye To Eye" ("I Feel For You" 1984) featuring Shannon Pearson. "Eye To Eye" was originally released as a single on 25 Nov 2020.

Output/Input was formed during lockdown by, bassist, composer, producer and music director for Chaka Khan, Melvin Lee Davis with the Triple H Horns i.e. Nick Mead (trumpet), Jacob Shaw (saxophone) and Patrick Hayes (trombone). The full ensemble is completed by Jay Williams (drums), Adam Kovacs (percussion), Kanghyun Bu (Guitar), Kaeun Kim (Keyboard) and Jesse Milliner (keyboard).

Audrey Wheeler-Downing started her music career in NYC in the early 80’s as one of the lead vocalist with Unlimited Touch, whose hits include "I Hear Music In The Streets" and "Searchin’ To Find The One". This got her noticed and she became an in demand for backing vocals for various artists including Freeez's "AEIOU" and Gwen McCraes' "Funky Sensation", Najee, Atlantic Starr, Eric Gable, Freddie Jackson, Glenn Jones, James "D-Train" Williams. She released two solo albums in 1987 and 1991. Audrey has toured with Chaka Khan since 1990 as well as with many big name artists such as Cher, Madonna, Bryan Ferry, Mariah Carey, Billy Ocean, Mary J Blige, Johnathan Butler, Freddie Jackson, C&C Music Factory,  Amy Grant, Jeff Lorber. She is married to Will Downing. Not only a great singer she is a beauty as well and was a finalist in the Miss Black America Pageant as well as a runner-up in the Miss Black Universe contest while still in her teens.

Brent Carter is a native New Yorker, and he has been the lead singer for Tower Of Power (1994-2001) and then Average White Band (AWB) and was a featured background singer for Regina Belle and BeBe & CeCe Winans. He is currently focusing on his project Brent Carter & Friends where he collaborates with great musicians and vocalists that have influenced him and his career.
