A Record Store Day release yesterday (22 Apr 2022) from Demon Record is a compilation "The Best of Chi-Sound Records 1976-84".
It does exactly what it says bringing you some the best releases
on Chi-Sound from mid 70s to mid 80s. Spotify / the digital release for some reason has
omitted (greyed out) Gene Chandler "Get Down 12" Version" (which I'm
sure you'll know well already) and Chi-Lites Feat. Eugene Record "Hot On
A Thing (Called Love)" a 1981 single from "Me And You" which isn't available on Spotify so I've embedded from YouTube as it's too good to miss.
It contains a couple of stone cold classics such as
Walter Jackson's "Touching In The Dark" and Paris (Holley) "I Choose You" (absolute stunner!) along with a few more modern soul favourites including
The Dells "All About The Paper", The Impressions "Fan The Fire" and Walter Jackson "It's Cool". It's a shame they didn't include the flip to Gene Chandler's
"Does She Have A Friend For Me", "Let Me Make Love To You", as well as it was a
huge modern soul tune in the early noughties.
Yet again Spotify isn't showing artists so click on cover image below for full track listing
It's available digitally and on a double vinyl.
